A Circle of Talk

Accountable Talk. Who thought of this idea? Whoever "they" are....Thank You! My classroom was video taped today doing accountable talk. WOW! They did such an amazing job! I am so very proud of each and every one of them. We did the book Thank You Mr. Falker by Patricia Polacco. I don't think I could have asked for it to go any better. They shared, agreed, disagreed, gave opinions, predicted, made connections to self, text, and world, and they enjoyed it! They are so excited that the tables are going to be turned. The whole point of the video taping is so teachers can watch it and learn from it. They will be teaching the teachers! They think they are all that and a bag of potato chips!

Wasn't it great! I too thought my treasures did an amazing job. Watching them discuss gave me a YAHOO moment.
Be proud, you have created an environment in your room that allows for this engaged discussion. CONGRAT'S LADY- YOU are all that and a bag of chips.

How about the feeling of community that you feel with your students because you are sharing intimate connections. It's all very raw at times. It's real learning.

I can't wait to see the video. I can't wait for the teachers in the summer workshop to see the video! This is a perfect teaching tool. We will use it ALL year. So many rooms I'm in have said, "I wish we could just see what it looks like." Now they CAN! All because you two were willing to take a risk and try it. Never forget the feeling you now have because of what you did! Thank you so much for being risktakers!
