in the soft fur behind Gracie's ears
in the sleepy sound of rain
in my nephew Alex's compationate ways
at Grandpa Grotemat's house
in my china tin
in Gracie's far reaching strrrreeeetches
in the fierce surf
in the dark clouds
in the dark corners of my mind
in the old suit case holding the Grace family pictures
in the stories of "back then" that Grandma Grace tells
in my new house
on the wings of a bird
in my patience with "that kid"
in my classroom with my kiddos
in languages I cannot speak
at the park where I used to play
in the outfield of the diamonds

I love this.... I posted what poetry hides for me. I spurred me to write some poetry in my Writer's Notebook!
I wonder where it hides for me. I often don't think about that. I guess it just flows. I will remember a phrase or (Okay, I guess I can let you in on my crazy thoughts) I will sometimes hear something and think, "I wonder what words I could use to describe that sound?" Is that strange? Maybe it is a poet's way. I have other poetry kinds of weird stuff too. It's just there, in me.
Sarah..that is because you are a poet and I am a poet wannabe.
Thanks for the compliment about my blog. :)
I love this list. I started doing this too after reading Nancie Atwell's Lessons that Change Writers.
